Why I Am a Creationist
A Layman’s Perspective

Chuck Nelson
About the Book
The subject of origins is one of humanity’s universal questions. The who, what, how, when, where and why issues surrounding origins are both intriguing and controversial. While cultural authorities in academia and the media push an entirely naturalistic evolutionary model of origins, the observations and experience of many people prevent them fully accepting such a model. Many people, scientist and laymen alike, see evidence of creation or design in the cosmos and in life itself. They see life as something more than chance and chemistry.
The author is neither a theologian nor a scientist but, as a layman, has studied the issue of origins for a number of years. In this layman to layman work, the author leads the reader through the maze of philosophical and scientific issues at play in the origins debate with the objective of affirming the belief in creation or design that so many hold.About the Author
The author grew up on a cattle ranch in Northern California ans is retired from a 34-year career in law enforcement. He has authored a book tittled, Life at The End of a Dirt Road”” giving an often-humorous account of growing up on a cattle ranch.
The author has a long-standing interest in photography which you are invited to enjoy at: www.chucknelsonphotography.com.

A Spiritual Healing Through Poetry

Jolainne BoRienne

Rising From the Ashes has come into being after years of a soul-searching journey from childhood abuse. Through the vivid imagery of poetry it gives affirmation to the wonderful healing process, especially when the process allows the Spirit to work hand in hand with one’s own difficult emotional work. The book links the spiritual journey with seasons of the year to illustrate how the process goes through cycles until, eventually, one day you wake up to the realization that rebirth really does happen and life is truly a gift.About the Author

Diving In The Lava

S.A.M. Safaa Mhawi
About the Book
Did they plunge into the lava?
Distraught, Daniel asks “”Why not?”” It has been six months since their defeat and they have been working in silence all this time. The west coast was the center for their operations that destroyed and beat them badly - what a tight plan. It was a precise ambush.
Daniel gets up and walks in the room. He goes over the events: a very advanced spacecraft that dives deep into a sea of lava, then opens tunnels of cold water on top of the lava that results in breaking the crust of the earth, and then meeting it in a sea of berserk lava. Oh my gosh, what is the solution? How will we face them? How will we get to them? How will we even find them?
Three states are threatened with being wiped out. They have no idea what is coming. This is beyond their abilities and they are only used to earthquakes, fire, tornadoes, or something that lasts for a few hours. They will keep talking about it for years.About the Author

Lessons from Life

Phoolmatee Dubay
About the Book
The book is about the adversities the author experienced resulted from using and abusing drugs and alcohol which led to a diagnosis of a mental illness. The author explored her darkness from using drugs to experiencing her nervous breakdowns. If overcoming meant not using, she didn’t know or realize this until years later. She would go on to discover the support of friends and family members through their love, care, concern, and compassion for her. As the author accepted help, she learnt to give help to others as well. The author experienced changes, and it is her aim to share in these experiences as learning experiences. She found out that the effects of using and abusing drugs and alcohol caused addictions, nervous breakdowns, and led to a diagnosis of a mental illness called schizoaffective disorder. After her diagnosis, it took years for her to realize that using wasn’t right for her because it destroyed her mental health, but she did change by quitting the abuse of drugs and alcohol so to improve her mental health and well-being. The author didn’t do it by herself because she had the support of friends and family members that held her up even when she was down and picked her up when she needed their help. And this will be shown in the poems she has written for her potential readers.About the Author
Phoolmatee Dubay, born February 14th 1968, migrated to the US during 1992. She attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College and York College where she pursued her career educational goals in Human Services and Social Work respectively. The author’s poetry became a way of coping with her mental illness and coming to grips with reality after learning about the harm and dangers from using and abusing drugs and alcohol. As the author wrote in her poem “A Dark Place In My Head”, “As dark as an abyss in the mind where no light shines, even in the presence of light.” explored the dark side of using drugs and/or alcohol. While she discovered how to deal with life as she wrote in her poem, “I Deal With Life”. You may wonder how and why because as she wrote, “I couldn’t see life for what it was; therefore how could I accept it for what it is?” She would go one to state, “When I didn’t know I had doubts but now I have answers. This doesn’t mean that doubts are gone because I still need answers. Even while looking at life differently.” -

Pictures, Poems, and Prayers for the Soul

Charles McCollough
About the Book
This book is humorous autobiography, poetry and prayers of a man who struggled with dyslexia all of his life. He became a minister, social activist, theologian, and visual artist. He struggled with these different roles for years until he found a way to combine all of them in books and presentations using his own art. Without knowing why earning a doctorate was such a struggle for him until he finished his Ph.D., he was often lost. Finally, when he finished his PhD, he discovered that he had a peculiar way of learning, in which he could combine the gifts of verbal, academic theology, and visual imagination. The three main sections of this book illustrate that combination of story-telling, drawing, sculpting, poetry and prayers, and show how this malady of dyslexia became a blessing.
The book begins with a humorous version of McCollough’s early years dealing with his dyslexia when he did not know what it was or that it was holding him back. The second section contains his poetry illustrated with his drawings and sculptures. The third section is of prayers written when he was serving a parish, for use in church or private meditation. The epilogue is his account of testifying before Congress and a story of a feisty woman who showed a depressed church committee how to work for social justice and to witness to her faith. Deeply personal and broadly applicable, McCollough’s search for faith is a humorous and moving account that inspires and encourages other faith seekers.
About the Author
After graduating from the University of Texas with a B.A. and from Perkins School of Theology (Southern Methodist University) with a B.D. and from Drew University with a Ph.D., he served a local church in Barrington, RI as the Teaching Minister. He then went on to serve on the national staff of the United Church of Christ as an adult educator. Later he became a policy advocate for the UCC in Washington, DC. All along he developed his skills as an artist. His books and presentations are illustrated with his drawings and sculpture. He and his spouse Carol, also an educator at Princeton University and Mercer County College, rebuilt an 1860 farm house and barn which houses his art studio and sculpture display. Together after their retirement they have taken their presentations combining art, theology, and marriage enrichment throughout the western world. Faith Nyagato
About the Book
Relationships is one of the most important things in our lives. Taking time every day to appreciate our loved ones for all that they do helps us to connect as a family. For this reason I have written this book on how I am connected to my in-laws to the extent of calling them my sisters. It is all about love that has made me to accept them as they are, appreciate all they do, respect them and keep boundaries with unconditional love. We have come to be sensitive of each other since we all make mistakes but rub each other in our weaknesses all out of love.

YOU

Vane Lashua
About the Book
For the past 50-some years I have been threatening to write a book. I’ve written poetry, political essays, lettersto-the-editor and stories about my life. Some of these are included here. Originally I wanted the title to be “Accidental Tourist” until I found that there is a play and movie by that title. Because I’ve often found life events and direction somewhat random, it came to me as a good description. Then, because of a need for a new title, “You” emerged. As a young teen, I read the prologue poem by Auden from a Look magazine page. At first reading, it assigns life’s negative influences to another. As I “matured”, I came to realize that my “Overfamiliar Dense companion” is me — each of ours. I preserved and reflect often on that original page.About the Author
Working in a family print shop as I grew up led to my career, first in education and then to publishing and dramatic technology development — with R.R. Donnelley, Readers Digest, and Sothebys over 50 years. While working at Columbia University for 5 years “at the turn of the century”, I became fascinated with geothermal energy technology and have since attended conferences and visited geothermal energy sites. (http://thnktnk.net/drill.html) is a paper I wrote on the subject. Presently I am involved in several community organizations (Library, Park, Arts, Downtown, Bird Sanctuary) in my hometown where I moved five years ago from New York. I live there with my fiancée whom I re-met at our 50th high school reunion. We have enjoyed Europe, China and US0 travels together. -

Two Crosses Leaned
High Voltage, Life-Transforming Truth from the Cross that Stood Fast and the Crosses that Leaned

L. Roo McKenzie
About the Book
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the free-standing bell tower of the Cathedral of the Italian City of Pisa. The tower is known worldwide for its unintended and permanent tilt. The tilt (lean) of each person is a demonstration of their choice–deliverance or defeat. Humans are either leaning toward Christ or leaning away from Him. A choice is a cognitive assertive decision–behavior (CAD-B)–a deliberate decision to be proactive and definitive about one’s trajectory. Godly CAD-B turns the turbine of personal productive change which leads to transformation and renewal of body, mind, and soul. It is spiritual “will” and “won’t” power in motion that is fueled by the Holy Ghost–the divine catalyst of a believer’s new creation.About the Author
Dr. L. Roo McKenzie has spent over forty five years serving as an educator, counselor and pastor. His rich experience in helping to grow young Christians toward faith maturity is embedded in his own personal journey of a lifetime of walking with Jesus. His life is a demonstration of “Christianity in working clothes”–a moment by moment connection with Christ the Vine which results in bearing the fruits of the Spirit–“love, joy, peace…” The author’s abiding confidence and assurance is that Jesus not only died for him, but that He died as him!
Roo is the author of two other books, Have You 101, Delectable McNuggets for the Pilgrim’s Soul, and Seven by Seven, Seven Virtues to Teach Children by age Seven but Definitely by Eleven.
